Major Changes
Section titled “Major Changes”Account Trunk Enhancements
Section titled “Account Trunk Enhancements”In prior versions, we only had support for a main trunk connection and a backup trunk connection. We have made some major changes to how we manage trunk connections, and it is now possible to support multiple trunk connections instead of just having main and backup connections.
New Web Framework
Section titled “New Web Framework”To support some of the work needed for multiple trunks, we have also adopted a new web framework that will improve usability for this feature and serve as a foundation for improving the overall web user experience. We plan to extend this framework to additional pages in upcoming releases.
Improved Video Calling Support
Section titled “Improved Video Calling Support”With the updated RTP Proxy included in our release, it also comes with improved video calling support. This is a useful feature to explore opportunities for video calls through your softswitch. A practical application could be SIP-based security cameras that call the home/business owner and send video as they detect motion.
Cloud Backups
Section titled “Cloud Backups”During our development cycle for FlySIP V5.5, we created a new solution that allows users to create a safe, secure, and offsite backup solution. Your regularly scheduled backups will be automatically uploaded to an Amazon S3 bucket, protecting against hardware problems in your local data center. This solution is cheaper than a full standby system but effective enough to quickly rebuild your softswitch with critical business data.
GoLang Version of RTP Cluster
Section titled “GoLang Version of RTP Cluster”In support of our efforts to develop a clustered version of our software, we have rewritten RTP Cluster into GoLang. The RTP cluster monitors and manages load across different RTP Proxy instances set up on various nodes.
SRTP Support
Section titled “SRTP Support”In FlySIP 2021, we added SIP TCP/TLS, laying the groundwork to extend SRTP functionality to the softswitch. This feature is one of the final improvements needed to prepare for Microsoft Teams integration.
Firewall Improvements
Section titled “Firewall Improvements”A number of improvements have been made to the firewall system to better manage SIP TLS/TCP connections. This includes enhanced handling of incoming SIP TLS/TCP connections and improved support for TFTP and notifications. You can now also bypass specific firewall rules for UDP traffic, speeding up RTP data processing.
DID Ranges Management
Section titled “DID Ranges Management”We have added initial support for DID ranges to the softswitch, enabling operators to manage large ranges of DID numbers. Since DID Ranges can contain tens or hundreds of thousands of numbers, support for blocks of numbers provides a more efficient way to manage them.
