Follow Me
Follow Me forwards the incoming calls of an account to a list of numbers: a mobile when the desk phone does not answer, a colleague when the line is busy, a second office when the phone is offline. The numbers can be phone numbers or other accounts. You set it up for the account here, and the account can manage the same list in its own portal.
Where to find it
Section titled “Where to find it”Follow Me is off for new accounts. Turn it on first:
- Open the account form on the Accounts screen.
- On the Voicemail tab, check Follow-Me Enabled.
- Click Save & Close.
Then open Actions → Services → Follow Me of the account. The URL is /account_followme.php?i_account=<id>. The menu item appears only while Follow-Me Enabled is checked.
In the account’s portal the page is Services → Follow Me (/followme.php). It is shown when Follow-Me Enabled is on both on the account and on its account class.
What you see
Section titled “What you see”Follow Me Mode decides when the list is used:
| Mode | Calls are forwarded |
|---|---|
| Off | Never. The default for every account |
| Always | At once, the account’s own phone does not ring |
| On Busy | When the account’s phone is busy |
| On No Answer | When the account’s phone rings longer than Timeout, sec |
| On Unavailable | When the account’s phone cannot be reached or does not answer within Timeout, sec |
| On Unregistered | When the account has no active SIP registration |
Timeout, sec next to the mode is shown for On No Answer and On Unavailable: how long the account’s own phone rings before the call moves on, from 5 to 60 seconds, 15 by default.
The table lists the forwarding numbers in the order they are tried:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Order Preference | Position in the list, from 1. The first entry is tried first |
| Phone Number/CLD | The number to forward to, or the name of another account. Required |
| Timeout, sec | How long this number rings before the next one is tried, 5 to 60, 15 by default |
| Description | Free text |
Mode and timeout are saved as soon as you change them. An account can have up to 20 numbers.
Add a forwarding number
Section titled “Add a forwarding number”- Select the position in Order Preference. The last free position is preselected; an earlier one moves the other entries down.
- Enter Phone Number/CLD, for example
380671234567or the name of another account. - Enter Timeout, sec and an optional Description.
- Click Add.
- Select Follow Me Mode if it is still Off.
Edit, reorder or delete a number
Section titled “Edit, reorder or delete a number”Click Edit in the row to change the number, its timeout or description, then Save (or Undo). Up and Down move the entry in the list. Delete removes it and closes the gap. While a row is in edit mode, Follow Me Mode is locked.
How forwarded calls work
Section titled “How forwarded calls work”Forwarded calls are billed to the account that owns the Follow Me list, so the numbers must be destinations its service plan prices.
Follow Me relies on on-net routing: the routing group of the account must have on-net calls turned on with Use Connection. See On-Net Routing.
The account can also switch forwarding from its phone with the Call Forwarding Enable and Call Forwarding Disable service codes. See Service Codes.
