Service plans (Tariff Plans)

A service plan is what you sell to an account. It combines a tariff, which prices the calls, with a billing cycle and optional recurring parts: service charges such as a monthly fee, minute plans with bundled minutes, and accessibility surcharges for calls through particular numbers. Every account has exactly one service plan, set in its Service Plan field. The panel keeps each tariff and its service plan together as one tariff plan.

Open Tariffs & Currencies → Tariff Plans in the left sidebar. The URL is /tariff_plans.php. The item needs the right to manage tariffs; Add needs the add right and Delete the delete right.

Column Meaning
Status Green check, or a warning triangle Loss protection is disabled.
Name The tariff plan’s name, linking to the form
Description The service plan’s description
Currency Currency of the tariff and of the plan’s charges
Price Service charges plus minute plans per billing period, for example 15.00 USD/month. — for a tariff without a service plan, such as an incoming tariff

Each row has Edit, a Rates button and Delete. The filter takes a Tariff Name with is like / is not like and a type: Any Type, Tariff or Incoming Tariff.

  1. Click Add.
  2. On Basic Parameters, enter Name and Description and select Currency. Set the call pricing fields as for any tariff. See Tariffs.
  3. On Advanced Parameters, select Billing Cycle, Billing Day, Billing Type and On Billing Failure.
  4. On Add-ons, add the service charges, minute plans and accessibility surcharges you need.
  5. Click Save, then open Rates and add the prefixes.
  6. Assign the plan to accounts in their Service Plan field. See Accounts.

The panel creates the tariff and its service plan together, with the same name. Incoming Tariff in the Add menu creates a DID tariff without a service plan.

Field Meaning
Calls Duration Round or Round-Up of the billed call duration
Onnet Tariff Tariff for calls between your own accounts. – Basic Tariff – uses the plan’s own tariff. Must be in the same currency
Billing Cycle Weekly, Bi-Weekly or Monthly: how often the recurring charges are applied
Billing Day When the cycle starts: On Assignment of the plan, On First Use of the account, or a fixed day of the month for monthly plans or a weekday for weekly ones
Billing Type Pre-Paid charges at the start of each billing period, Post-Paid at its end
On Billing Failure What happens when the account cannot pay the charges: Use Tariff charges further calls by the tariff instead of the minute plans, Block All Calls or Block Charged Calls stops calls

A post-paid charge is taken at the end of the period whether or not the balance covers it, so the balance of a post-paid account can fall below its credit limit. An account whose charge failed shows the Tariff suspended icon in Accounts; the charge is retried after its next payment.

Rows in the three tables are added with the empty row at the bottom and the Add Row icon, and changed with the pencil icon.

A fixed amount charged every billing period: a subscription fee, voicemail, a number rental. Each row has Service Charge Name and Price in the plan’s currency.

A bundle of minutes to a set of destinations, charged every billing period. Calls to those destinations use the bundle until it runs out; afterwards the tariff applies.

Field Meaning
Minute Plan Name Name shown to the account. Required
Included Minutes Minutes in the bundle per period. Empty means unlimited
Price Price of the bundle per period
Interval 1, Interval N Billing increments, in seconds, of calls charged against the bundle
Enable Grace Period Apply the tariff’s grace period to these calls
Destinations Patterns The prefixes the bundle covers. Required

Load the destinations from a file: click Get Template, fill in Included Prefixes and Excluded Prefixes, one prefix per cell, and upload it with Import from…. A prefix in the second column is taken out of the bundle, for example 44 included and 447 excluded for UK landlines without mobiles. Download exports the current list.

An extra charge for calls that reach the switch through a given number. Each row has Incoming DID/CLD, a number with an optional * at the end that matches any longer number, and its own Connect Fee, Free Seconds, Grace Period, sec, Price 1, Price N, Interval 1 and Interval N. See Charging on-net calls.

Once at least one account uses the service plan, its terms are locked so that customers are never charged differently from what they signed up for:

  • Calls Duration, Onnet Tariff, Billing Cycle, Billing Day, On Billing Failure and Billing Type are read-only.
  • Service charges and minute plans cannot be added or deleted, and their Price and Included Minutes cannot be changed. Names, intervals and destinations can.

The tariff fields and the accessibility surcharges stay editable. To change locked terms, create a new plan with Add Based on Existing, move the accounts to it, and edit or delete the old one when no account uses it any more.

Delete removes the tariff and its service plan together. The button is hidden while accounts use the plan or customers, extended routings, authentication rules or DID charging groups use the tariff.
