Balance and credit limit

Every account and every reseller has two money fields next to its service plan or tariff: Balance and Credit Limit. Together they decide whether a call may start and how long it may last.

Term Meaning
Balance Money on the account or reseller, in its own currency. Positive means prepaid funds, negative means debt. Each call lowers it by the call price; payments raise it
Credit Limit How far below zero the balance may go. 0 makes the account prepaid
Available Credit Balance plus Credit Limit: what the account or reseller can still spend

When a call starts, the switch checks the available credit of the account and of every reseller above it, and limits the call to the duration the smallest of them can pay for. When the available credit reaches zero, new calls are refused; the account is not blocked and can call again after a top-up. See Rating and billing.

Examples:

  • Prepaid account: Balance 10.00, Credit Limit 0 → available credit 10.00.
  • Postpaid account: Balance -30.00, Credit Limit 100 → available credit 70.00.
  • Out of credit: Balance -100.00, Credit Limit 100 → available credit 0, calls are refused.
  • On the Accounts screen the Balance and Available Credit columns show both values in your base currency, and the warning icon Low balance marks accounts with no available credit left. The account form shows Balance, Credit Limit and Available Credit in its header. See Accounts.
  • On the Resellers screen the Balance and Credit Limit columns show them for your resellers. See Resellers.

Set the opening Balance when you create the account or reseller. After that, change it only with a balance operation, so that every change is recorded in the payment history:

  1. Click the wallet icon in the row, or Actions → Add Balance.
  2. Select Add Funds for a payment you received, Manual Credit to add money without a payment, or Manual Charge to take money off.
  3. Enter Amount and Notes.
  4. Click the confirm button. It carries the name of the action, for example Add Funds.

The balance also changes by itself:

  • down with every call, service plan charge and DID charge;
  • up with card payments and vouchers the account or reseller makes in its portal, and with auto charge from a saved card. See Payments and Auto Recharge / Notifications.
  1. Open the account or reseller form.
  2. Enter Credit Limit.
  3. Click Save & Close.

The new limit applies to the next call.
