Tariffs

A tariff is a price list for your customers: a currency, per-call parameters such as connect fee and grace period, and a set of rates, one per destination prefix. Customers are assigned a tariff directly; accounts get one through a service plan. An Incoming Tariff prices calls that arrive on DIDs instead of outgoing calls. See Rating and billing.

The sidebar item Tariffs & Currencies → Tariff Plans opens the combined screen that manages tariffs together with their billing plans. The plain tariff list described here lives at /tariffs.php and opens from the tariff links on the Resellers, Service Plans, Charging Groups and Test Dialplan screens. Both screens share the same tariff form and the same Rates button.

The screen requires the right to manage tariffs; Add needs the add and edit rights, Delete the delete right.

Screenshot "admin-panel/tariffs-list" has not been generated yet — see scripts/screenshots/screens.yml.
Column Meaning
Status Green check, or a warning triangle Loss protection is disabled. for an outgoing tariff without loss protection
Name The tariff’s name, linking to the form
Type Tariff for outgoing calls or Incoming Tariff for DID calls
Currency Currency of every rate in the tariff

Each row has Edit, a Rates button and Delete. The filter takes a Tariff Name with is like / is not like and a type: Any Type, Tariff or Incoming Tariff. The name filter is an exact match unless you add % as a wildcard: %retail% finds every tariff containing retail.

Your own assigned tariff is not in the list; it is edited from My Preferences.

  1. Click Add. For a DID tariff choose Incoming Tariff from the split button, then set Type to Incoming Tariff in the form as well.
  2. Enter Tariff Name.
  3. Select Currency. Only currencies with an exchange rate under you are offered.
  4. Set Connect Fee, Free Seconds, Grace Period, sec and Post Call Surcharge, % if your pricing uses them. Wholesale tariffs usually leave all four at 0.
  5. Click Save & Close, then open Rates to add prefixes. See Rates.
Field Meaning
Tariff Name Display name. Required
Currency Currency of the rates. Fixed after creation
Type Tariff or Incoming Tariff. Fixed after creation
Free Seconds Seconds after the first interval that are not charged
Post Call Surcharge, % Percentage added to the cost of every call
Connect Fee Fixed amount charged per connected call, in the tariff currency
Grace Period, sec Calls shorter than this are free, on rates where Enable Grace Period is on

Hidden for incoming tariffs.

Field Meaning
Enable Loss Protection, Max Loss, % Block routes whose termination cost exceeds the sale price by more than Max Loss. See Loss protection and margin-based routing
Calls Cost Round or Round-Up when the cost is cut to the decimal precision
Cost Decimal Precision Decimals kept for the cost of each call. The default comes from System Parameters
Avg. Call Duration, sec Expected call length, 200 by default, used to compare the cost of routes for least-cost routing and loss protection

Enabled turns on area-based pricing: rates get an Area/State Name and local intervals and prices, and the CLI Validation Rule decides from the caller’s number whether a call is local. See Local calling.

Add Based on Existing creates a new tariff from another one:

  1. Enter Name and select Base Tariff. Resellers can also base it on - MY TARIFF -, the tariff they are charged with.
  2. Enter Scale Rates by, %: the percentage added to every copied price. The default is 1.00, which adds 1%; enter 0 to copy prices unchanged, 20 for a 20% margin.
  3. Select the Currency of the new tariff. Prices are converted with your exchange rates.
  4. Click Save. The form of the new tariff opens; active and future rates of the base tariff are copied, discontinued ones are not.

This is the usual way to build a reseller’s tariff from your own: base it on - MY TARIFF - with the margin as the scale.

Delete refuses while the tariff is in use and lists what references it: service plans, customers, extended routings, DID charging groups and authentication rules. Reassign those first. The button is hidden for tariffs that cannot be deleted at all.
