Auto Recharge / Notifications

When the available credit of an account or a reseller drops below a threshold you set, the billing system can e-mail the owner, charge a saved debit or credit card, or both. Available credit is the balance plus the credit limit; see Balance and credit limit.

  • For an account: on the Accounts screen open Actions → Billing → Auto Recharge / Notifications. The URL is /low_balance.php?i_account=<id>.
  • For a reseller: on the Resellers screen open Actions → Notifications. The URL is /low_balance.php?i_customer=<id>.
Screenshot "admin-panel/low-balance" has not been generated yet — see scripts/screenshots/screens.yml.
Field Meaning
Threshold Available credit, in the owner’s currency, below which the owner is notified or charged. Empty disables the feature
Notify by E-Mail Send notifications to the E-mail address of the account or reseller, with its Cc and Bcc
Retry Count How many times the notification is repeated while the credit stays low. Empty means no repeats. It cannot exceed Max Retry Count of the billing settings, 5 by default
Retry Interval Hours between repeats. Empty uses Retry Interval (hours) of the billing settings, 24 by default

Shown when the owner has at least one saved card and card top-up is allowed (for an account, by Debit/Credit Card Top-up of its account class).

Field Meaning
Charge Card Charge a card when the credit falls below the threshold
Charge Amount Amount to charge, in the owner’s currency
Use Card Primary Card or one of the saved cards

Accounts with a saved card only. Charge Card, Charge Amount and Use Card charge the card when the service plan is billed. Charge Amount suggests Plan Price, the price of the service plan.

  1. Open Auto Recharge / Notifications of the account or reseller.
  2. Enter Threshold, for example 5.
  3. Check Notify by E-Mail and adjust Retry Count and Retry Interval if needed.
  4. Click Save & Close.

Check that the account or reseller has an E-mail on the Address tab of its form. Without it no message is sent.

The billing system checks every 15 minutes.

  • When the available credit is below the threshold, it sends a low balance message once, then repeats it Retry Count times every Retry Interval hours.
  • When the credit falls to zero or below after a low balance message, it sends a zero credit message at once, even between repeats.
  • When Charge Card is on, it charges the card instead of sending the low balance message and e-mails the result of the payment. A failed charge is retried after 24 hours.
  • When the available credit rises above the threshold again, for example after a payment, the state resets and the next drop sends a new message.
